2021 NBA All-Star – Make Your Own Draft!

The stage for the biggest event in the NBA is set. All that’s missing is for the two captains to choose their teams from the players pool. Will they choose former teammates? Who will be the number 1 pick? How will Zion fit in the mix? A lot of questions to ask and answer. However, let’s pause all that for a minute and play a game of our own. What if, Lebron and KD came up to you and asked for help. Like literally, if you were granted the ability to form the teams, who would you choose? Of course, while respecting the below players pool. This is the 2021 NBA All-Star – Make Your Own Draft!

My Draft:

2021 NBA All-Star – Make Your Own Draft! I will draft my own teams, picking the starters first for both captains and moving on to the bench players. I will also give you my opinion on why I decided to mix these players together and form these two teams. Hope you’ll like it:

Team Lebron:

With the number one pick of the 2021 All-Star draft, Team Lebron select:

  • Stephen Curry: After a slow start, Curry is having one of the best shooting season of his career. He’s never won an All-Star MVP, could this be his year? In addition, we’ve already seen him and KD dominating with the Warriros, put him with Lebron this time and enjoy.
  • Kyrie Irving: Lebron’s gotta pick his former teammate. Kyrie can play as a shooting guard, but also possesses the skillset needed to handle and dish out assists. Plus, it’s fun to watch them together again. We have the whole season to enjoy Kyrie and Durant with the Nets.
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo: The All-Star is all about lobs, dunks and flashy plays, who’s better than the Greek Freak to connect all these? With enough shooters on the team, Giannis can live in the paint and dominate both rebounding and defensively. Good luck scoring on him with the King in the same team. Also, Giannis will be motivated to send a message to his Eastern Conference rivals, a perfect fit.
  • Nikola Jokic: I don’t care what people think, the Joker is one of the most entertaining players in the NBA. Jokic is an elite passer who can knockout straight 3s and you team him up with Lebron? What more can we ask for? I think they would fit together perfectly. Plus, you get another big man on your team. Let the fun begins.

Team Durant:

Now off to Durant’s team, where we have to pick 5 players instead of 4 since he is injured and will not play. We will make this a fun balanced game so that both teams keep going at it.

  • Kawhi Leonard: If I’m Durant, I’m taking last year’s MVP as my number one pick, no question about it. Let the LA rivarly continue with the Klaw going against the King. I’m sure he will be motivated to send him a message for if they met in the playoffs.
  • Luka Doncic: Luka is perfect for this kind of games. He’s one of the most creative players, who can handle the ball perfectly and shoot. I would have loved to play him with Jokic to get that extra European flavor, but I think this would be more balanced all together.
  • Joel Embiid: We need a big man in this team and Embiid would be perfect. We might not be able to “overshoot” team Lebron’s but we can match them inside and on defense. Joel is having an MVP season and would love nothing more than to remind us of that on the big stage.
  • Bradley Beal: Don’t get me wrong, I’m not underestimating him again. However, I’m trying to pick the perfectly match players first. Beal is the NBA’s leading scorer, can do literally everything and any player would dream to have him on his team. With Kawhi and Luka, they should have enough to get the offense going.
  • Jason Tatum: With the final pick, of course we’re going with the young Boston star. Averaging 26.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists this season, all career-highs, Tatum would be a deadly weapon to this team. Add him to the mix with the others and you have players who can score, penetrate and create. Perfect Match.

Reserves:

2021 NBA All-Star – Make Your Own Draft! Now we move to the bench players, who couple of them could be starters as well to be honest. Durant will have the 1st pick here so we will start with his team and move to Lebron’s. Here are my picks:

Team Durant:

  • James Harden: No question about it, Durant has to choose Harden first. He will give the team another dimension, and a much needed spark off the bench. Imagine playing him as your 6th man. Damn, the NBA is stacked with talents!
  • Zion Williamson: This team needs a bit of energy and ferocious plays, and your man Zion is the perfect fit. The 4th youngest All-Star ever with a lot to prove, I’m taking him in my team.
  • Paul Georges: I’m staying with the same method and want to increase the intensity of this game. PG with Kawhi going against Lebron, as the Lakers-Clippers rivarly will once again lit up.
  • Devin Booker: Any team would dream to have him on his side, picking Booker will help the team more offensively as we add another perimeter shooter.
  • Donovan Mitchell: The Jazz have the best record in the NBA and in a big part, it’s thanks to this guy. He would add so much to the team, on both ends of the floor.
  • Rudy Gobert: I’m keeping the Jazz connection and adding another big man to my team.
  • Jaylen Brown: Another celtic star on this team, Brown is a strong all around player and will make his presence felt here.

Team Lebron:

  • Damian Lillard: A player that should have been starting is now on the reserves, what to do? Pick him first, of course. I’m adding another elite shooter to the team, one who could easily “steal” the MVP this year and prove everyone wrong.
  • Ben Simmons: I’m picking up an elite defender to help me out on defense, who happens to have an incredibly passing ability. If this game gets close in the end, with him and Lillard we can secure the win.
  • Chris Paul: CP3 and Lebron are really close. Plus, with Paul’s ability, we’re going for the win here. No doubt.
  • Zach LaVine: I need a spark off the bench and Zach is the perfect fit. He can shoot, penetrate, be aggressive. His 1st All-Star selection with a lot to prove, he’s a perfect fit.
  • Nikola Vucevic: Another versatile big man who can shoot the long ball? Yes sir! He is one of the best big shooters in the league, along with Jokic we have another version who is also very versatile. You’re welcome.
  • Domantas Sabonis: We have enough shooters on the team, we need a more complete player to add and he’s the perfect fit. He can do anything and brings a lot of energy as well. He was the 1st in NBA history to average 20/10/5 and not make the All-Star team, before they chose him to replace Durant.
  • Julias Randle: Another first time All-Star on the team. I like him and I think he should be ready to show everyone that he belongs here on this stage. With that pick, my team is complete.
