RB Leipzig Vs Bayern Munich – The Return of German Football

The Bundesliga is set for a long awaited return after an extended winter break, as the Red Bull Arena will play host to a heavyweight fight between two of the top three teams. Leipzig V Bayern – The Return of German Football – German football is usually a fan favorite, even if you don’t support a specific team. The league is known for it’s high scoring matches and attractive football, combine these with packed stadiums and dedicated ultras and you have yourself a perfect football match package.

Now one might argue that the league has been dominated by Bayern for ages now, which is true. However, with all the injuries the Bavarian players sustained during the world cup break, there’s no better chance for another team to take advantage then now. Also, there’s no better team to do that than RB Leipzig, who were on a sensational run before the WC pause. Let’s analyze this fixture and highlight why it’s not to be missed as we move closer to kick off.

RB Leipzig

We always criticized German clubs for not thinking outside the box in the managerial positions, as most of the coaches being changed remain from the same league. In Leipzig’s case however, it seems to be working just fine with Marco Rose replacing Domenico Tedesco after a dreadful start to the season. Well for now at least! After flirting with the relegation zone for a while, the bulls sit comfortably 3rd now, having lost just 1 game under his tenure and find themselves only 6 points behind the leaders. Most of the credit goes to their French superstar as well, having another breakout season. How long can they keep him there one might wonder.

Die Rotten Bull are not only dominating in their last couple of fixtures in the league, but also made it to the round of 16 in Europe. Despite getting a tough draw, having to face Man City, they are more than capable of pulling off a surprise. The team is packed with young, exciting players in almost all the positions. The likes of Gvardiol, Szoboszlai, Olmo and even the return of Werner create a strong core that can go head to head with any team out there, including Bayern! Especially when you throw some experienced players into the mix, who can provide the young guns with support and leadership. Can they repeat most of the 2022 success and keep their hot run going?

Bayern Munich

It’s not been a clean “World cup break” for Bayern, as they lost many players to injury and having the main national team of Germany knocked out early on. After all, it’s not easy having the joint second-most representatives of any club on the planet at this winter’s World Cup. The Bavarians were working hard to try and compensate the loss of Neuer after a Ski incident, and they finally seems to have the perfect replacement. Yan Sommer will join from Gladbach, a solid and experienced keeper that should be able to fill most of the void left by the world’s best, especially in the Champions League when they face PSG. That, and the addition of Daley Blind, a well rounded experienced player that could be used in different positions, provide Bayern the needed depth to keep pushing this season.

It’s safe to mention that the Bavarians have the best away form heading into this match. On the other hand, Leipzig have the best home record, so how will that fare off? One of the many questions that Nagelsmann will play a huge role deciding. Most importantly, what lineup will he opt for? Especially after Musiala’s sensational run at the moment, along with other players that were key to their respective national team. We’re now entering a crucial part of the season, and with the disappointment of last season and the incredible transfer market this season, there is surely no more room for error here! Can the young coach handle all the pressure?

Leipzig V Bayern – The Return of German Football Prediction

Leipzig V Bayern – The Return of German Football. A lot has changed since the last time these two met. Bayern were able to secure the Supercup winning 5-3, which is not so surprising considering the amount of goals this fixture usually produce. 50 goals scored in the 15 competitive meetings between the sides over the last six years, including the dramatic 5-4 in 2017!

This will be a completely different game though, as a win for any team will most likely determine who will end up lifting the silverware at the end of the season. With a six-point difference between the two ahead of kick-off, Leipzig could half that deficit with victory. So it will be interesting to see how will Rose approach this, especially without his superstar Nkunku! One thing we’re hoping for, is a lot of goals and an exciting game. It’s usually tricky to determine how will the team play after a long break, so it might be difficult to pick an outright winner. We would advise playing on goals as they should be more “secure” here. Overall however, Bayern should end up winning this, even if it was harder than ever with all the key injuries.
