The eyes of the football world will be on the Allianz Arena this Saturday, when two of the biggest German teams meet. This is Bayern Munich Vs Borussia Dortmund – Der Klassiker! Who will prevail in the 104th edition of the Bundesliga era?

Match Preview

22 of the last 26 Bundesliga titles have gone the way of either Bayern or Dortmund, with the Reds chasing their ninth in a row. The Bavarians are 13 points clear of Dortmund, however they only lead 2nd place Leipzig by 2 points. A win for Dortmund tomorrow and the title race will blow wide open again. A lot of good matchups to look forward to, mainly the battle between the two best No.9s in the world. What to expect from the Klassiker? Let’s take a look in our match analysis.

Bayern Munich

After conquering the world with the record sextuple, Bayern have set the bar very high for whoever wants to beat them this season. Despite some discouraging results after winning the CWC, with a draw against Bielefeld and a loss to Frankfurt, the Bavarians directly bounced back and in style. A 4-1 win against Lazio in the CL, followed by a 5-1 win against Koln in the league, reminded us all what this team is capable of doing. Now, they look to maintain this momentum as they enter a crucial month. And with the return of key players such as Goretzka, Muller and Gnabry, Bayern will look to dominate the world once more.

As there are no midweek games, having been eliminated from the cup, the Reds have 5 days to focus on the clash with Dortmund this Saturday. After recovering from the Covid, Muller was back with a bang as he provided an assist just seconds after coming on. Thomas is an essential part of Flick’s tactics, along with Goretzka who was also back in style, this Bayern team looks unstoppable again. Not to mention the fact that Lewa can’t stop scoring either. Can they go all the way this time?

Borussia Dortmund

Der BVB are on an unbeaten run after some concerning results as of late. Following the loss against Freiburg, Borussia bounced back winning 4 of their last 5 games, including an impressive CL win against Sevilla away from home. In addition, they reached the DFB Pokal semi final after beating their future coach’s side Gladbach on Tuesday. Jadon Sancho is back at his best, having scored the winning goal to send them to the semis. Can he find his way past a shaky Bayern’s defence on Saturday?

With players like Haaland, Reus and Reyna, Dortmund have a very good chance of going toe to toe with Bayern. However, they have to be at their best in every position to be able to have a chance. Sancho had some hard time against Alphonso Davies in the past, as he looks to keep his impressive run going. This will be a key battle for Borussia if they want to win the game. Not only do they have to get past Bayern’s defence, but they also have to score against the world’s greatest goalkeeper in Manuel Neuer. Will they be up for the challenge?

Lewandowski Vs Haaland – Battle Of The N.9s

With a record 28 goals so far, Lewandowski is in pole to finish 2020/21 with a record 4th successive Bundesliga top scorer’s cannon. The Bayern striker has scored 16 times across his last 13 outings alone, as he aims to do so again on Saturday. He is currently averaging a league goal every 67 minutes at a rate of 1.35 per game. He has reached double figures for the 10th successive season, and is the first player in history to have done so after just five rounds of fixtures. There’s a reason why they call him LewanGOALski!

Following his footsteps is the young Norwegian star, who is already breaking records. Haaland ranks as the first player in Bundesliga history to stick away a debut hat-trick from the bench; reach five goals after two matches; seven after three and nine after five. He’s scored 17 goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances, as he looks to do so again against Bayern. Can he overcome Lewa’s achievements? For the time being at least, Haaland can rightly be considered the most complete player of his type under the age of 25.

Team News

Despite still missing some players, Bayern have a strong boost going into this game with other key players finally fit and ready. Goretzka, Muller and Gnabry are the main ones that already made their comebacks, as Flick will look to include them all in this clash. In addition, Pavard was also back to training and should be ready for Saturday, but it looks like Sule will keep his place with his brilliant displays as of late. Although Musiala was playing some great football, however, Flick might be tempted to keep him on the bench to pair Muller and Gnabry together.

On the other hand, Dortmund will be without Manuel Akanji, Axel Witsel and Marcel Schmelzer. In addition, Sancho and Guerreiro are doubtful with muscular problems. Here is what Terzic had to say in his press conference today:

According to Kicker, this is the possible lineup for Saturday. We will keep you updated in case anything changed:

Prediction & Current Odds

Bayern Munich Vs Borussia Dortmund – Der Klassiker! Bottom line is, this is one of the biggest matchups in the football world and we expect to see a solid display from both teams. This game has been a primary factor in the title decider in recent years, although it is not the case this year due to Dortmund’s position, nonetheless it still brings a special meaning everytime. With key players back in the team for Bayern, we expect them to continue their domination and win their 5th Klassiker in a row. However, the visitors are in a great form going into this game, with Sancho and Haaland scoring goals for fun they should be able to get on the scoresheet. Borussia have nothing to lose and that alone can cause Bayern a lot of problem. Nevertheless, the Bavarians have what it takes to see it through and get the win.
